Hilton
Centre Playground - 1993
The installation of a playground
with access for special needs children was a major project for our
club. In addition to donating $25,000 for the first stage, our members
also came out to help with the installation of the playground equipment.
We donated an additional $22,500 for stage II of this excellent playground
as well, but were not involved in installing the second stage.

The architect's view of
things in model scale. They must have done their job well, because
the finished result looks remarkably like the scale model. |
First machine in does
the
heavy duty work. |

Club member Glenn Herd
shows he still knows how to handle a power tool while Chris Gates
is suitably impressed. |
Scott Kenny and Chris
Gates shows everyone what shovels are for. |

Jim Sawyer and Eric Mosley
are trying to figure out the assembly of one of the pieces of playground
equipment. |
Sam Frketich checks whether
the post is plumb and Jim Sawyer (as usual) is supervising. |
|
| |
There was some mechanical
help, at least with digging the post holes. |
Once again, Jim Sawyer
and Sam Frketich are teamed up. |

Things are beginning to
take shape! |
In fact, it is almost
possible to make out that this is to be a children's playgound.... |
|
| |
..... and indeed it is,
complete with happy children, thanking everyone for the first stage
of the playground. |
